Paper Mache Animals - Session 2
Session 1 Art Club began their paper mache animals or creatures. Paper Mache is a french word for "chewed paper". The material is a mixture of paper with some type of adhesive such as glue, starch or paste.
Our paper mache mixture was paper dipped in paste mixed with water. Students first created their animal bodies by crumbling up newspaper into large ovals and circles. They kept their body together using tape. Legs and arms were made with paper cups and cardboard. Then they were tightly covered in paper mache strips. They dried and hardened over night.
The next step will be to paint and decorate!
