Printmaking Professionals
Students have been working hard on their print designs. We were professional printers! They used a linoleum block to carve the negative space from their unique design. We used various sized gauge carvers. They did a few test prints to see what their prints would look like. They then went back and removed more negative space to perfect their design. Their final print was on a drawstring bag that they can wear and use with artistic pride.
Check out the printing process...

We had a great time at the Ned Smith Center for Nature & Learning in Millersburg, PA last week. The kids were fascinated to hear about the history of Ned Smith and all he accomplished as an artist throughout his life. They learned how to keep an active nature journal and how to observe the details of nature around them. What a beautiful location. Thanks Beth for great history and an awesome tour of the Ned Smith gallery. The kids eyes were wide walking through checking out all the art in the museum setting.

The Mural is Ready to Paint
After school students stayed to use a overhead projector to transfer their drawing ideas onto the wall behind the school office. This coloring book look will be filled in with colorful paint by the entire art club during the February Art Club meeting. It took about a month and a half to transfer on the drawing to the wall. Thank you Ms. Geesey who dedicated many hours helping me after school!

The Mural Has Begun
The mural has begun! Ms. Geesey and I have begun to transfer the mural design onto the wall. We take care of the high stuff while our designers take care of the lower land outlining. Take a look at the progress so far.
Congrats to Ashton, Morgan, Dakota, Jada & Mayra for being selected to be the mural designers for this year.

Clay-mation Videos
We became animation artists today! Creating an 8 block storyboard with text and illustration students created characters and important props using polymer clay. Mixing various colors to make the objects just right! Students used shoe boxes to set up their setting and used iMotion, tri-pods and helpful MS students to record their quick animations. Check out the students that finished so far!
